The Challenge
We are looking for an experienced Marine Mechanic to join our Hatteras Marine Maintenance Facility team to maintain and repair diesel engines and other marine equipment.

In this role, you will:
Perform work ranging from general, routine assignments to moderately complexity requiring marine mechanical knowledge acquired through on-the-job training dealing with ferry vessels.
Provide guidance and instruction in the principles and techniques to staff.
Adjust staff supervision based on the scope and difficulty of assignments.

What You Bring
Working knowledge of the operating principles of diesel and gasoline engines.
Experience with the operating principles of reduction gears and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of the workings and repair of air and electric control systems.
Knowledge of vacuum and pressure pump systems and repairs.
Experience troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment.

Note
The position generally works shift work on a 7 days on and 7 days off schedule, but your work schedule may vary.

Education & Experience
High school/GED diploma, and
3+ years experience in the repair of diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulic, air and electric systems, and components, preferably in the ship repair or shipbuilding industry; or
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
