Job Overview

Alpha Crew LTD is currently seeking an experienced Chief Officer to join an Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) operating in the Persian Gulf. This position is ideal for senior deck officers with extensive offshore experience who are capable of leading deck operations, managing offshore projects, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational performance.

The Chief Officer serves as the head of the deck department and acts as the Master’s deputy onboard. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all deck activities, supervising deck crew members, coordinating anchor handling operations, supporting towing projects, overseeing cargo operations, and ensuring compliance with international maritime regulations and company procedures.

AHTS vessels perform highly specialized offshore operations that require exceptional leadership, planning, and operational skills. The Chief Officer plays a critical role in ensuring safe execution of anchor handling, towing, rig move, and offshore support activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Master in the safe operation and management of the vessel.
  • Assume command of the vessel in the absence of the Master.
  • Lead and supervise all deck department personnel.
  • Plan and execute anchor handling operations.
  • Coordinate rig towing and offshore towing activities.
  • Manage deck maintenance programs and vessel preservation activities.
  • Supervise cargo loading, unloading, and offshore transfer operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and toolbox talks before offshore activities.
  • Ensure compliance with permit-to-work procedures.
  • Monitor vessel stability, ballast operations, and cargo distribution.
  • Maintain deck equipment, towing gear, and anchor handling systems.
  • Participate in project planning meetings and offshore operational briefings.
  • Prepare operational reports and deck department documentation.
  • Conduct onboard safety inspections and audits.
  • Lead emergency response teams during drills and actual emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM Code, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company requirements.
  • Support client representatives and offshore project personnel during vessel operations.

Required Qualifications

  • Chief Officer Unlimited Certificate of Competency.
  • Valid STCW Certification.
  • Valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
  • Passport and Seaman’s Book.
  • Minimum two years of experience as Chief Officer on similar offshore vessels.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience onboard AHTS vessels.
  • Proven anchor handling operational experience.
  • Experience with offshore towing operations.
  • Offshore oil and gas industry experience.
  • Experience working with offshore drilling contractors and marine clients.
  • Knowledge of offshore safety management systems.
  • Experience operating in the Persian Gulf region is preferred.

  • Train and mentor junior officers and crew.
  • Promote safe working practices onboard.
  • Monitor crew performance and competency.
  • Coordinate with engineering and catering departments.
  • Ensure operational readiness for offshore assignments.

The vessel may be involved in:
