Job Overview
Alpha Crew LTD is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Second Officer to join an Anchor Handling Tug Supply Vessel (AHTS) operating in the Persian Gulf. This role is ideal for professional deck officers with offshore experience who are looking to develop their careers within the offshore oil and gas industry.
The Second Officer will be responsible for navigational watchkeeping, voyage planning, bridge equipment maintenance, chart corrections, safety management duties, and supporting offshore operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the Master and Chief Officer to ensure safe vessel navigation and efficient offshore operations.
AHTS vessels perform critical offshore functions including anchor handling, towing operations, rig moves, cargo transportation, and support services for offshore drilling and production facilities. Therefore, the position requires excellent seamanship, navigational competence, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform navigational watchkeeping duties in accordance with STCW requirements.
- Prepare detailed voyage plans for offshore and coastal operations.
- Monitor vessel position and navigational safety throughout voyages.
- Maintain and update nautical charts and publications.
- Operate and monitor navigational equipment including ECDIS, Radar, AIS, GPS, and GMDSS systems.
- Assist the Master during critical navigation and offshore operations.
- Participate in anchor handling and towing operation planning.
- Conduct navigational risk assessments and toolbox talks.
- Maintain bridge logs and operational records.
- Coordinate communications with offshore installations, vessels, and port authorities.
- Support implementation of the vessel Safety Management System (SMS).
- Participate in safety drills and emergency response exercises.
- Assist with onboard inspections and audits.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and international maritime regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Officer of the Watch (OOW) Unlimited Certificate of Competency.
- Valid GMDSS General Operator Certificate.
- Valid STCW Certification.
- Valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Passport and Seaman’s Book.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Ability to work effectively within multicultural offshore crews.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience onboard AHTS or offshore support vessels.
- Experience in offshore navigation and marine operations.
- Knowledge of anchor handling and towing operations.
- Familiarity with offshore oil and gas industry requirements.
- Experience in the Persian Gulf region is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of bridge resource management principles.

The vessel operates throughout the Persian Gulf supporting offshore drilling contractors, oil and gas operators, marine construction companies, and offshore production facilities.
