Job Overview
Alpha Crew LTD is currently recruiting a qualified Third Engineer for a DP2 Platform Supply Vessel operating in the Persian Gulf. The Third Engineer will work under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and Second Engineer and will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various machinery and engineering systems onboard. The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining vessel reliability and ensuring all machinery remains available for continuous offshore operations.
This position offers valuable exposure to Dynamic Positioning vessel systems, offshore engineering practices, and modern marine technology within one of the world’s busiest offshore energy sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior engineering officers in the safe operation of the engine room.
- Monitor propulsion machinery, generators, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems.
- Carry out planned maintenance activities in accordance with the vessel’s maintenance schedule.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and machinery logs.
- Participate in machinery inspections and condition monitoring programs.
- Assist with troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.
- Support operation and maintenance of DP-related machinery systems.
- Monitor fuel, lubricating oil, and cooling water systems.
- Maintain engine room housekeeping standards.
- Participate in bunkering operations and fuel management activities.
- Assist in testing emergency systems and safety equipment.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and safety requirements.
- Support statutory surveys, class inspections, and client audits.
- Participate in emergency drills and onboard training exercises.
- Report machinery defects and maintenance requirements to senior engineers.
Required Qualifications
- Third Engineer Certificate of Competency.
- Valid STCW Certification.
- Valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
- Passport and Seaman’s Book.
- DP Maintenance Certificate preferred.
- Experience maintaining marine machinery systems.
- Good command of spoken and written English.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience as Third Engineer on offshore support vessels preferred.
- Experience onboard PSV or DP vessels is an advantage.
- Knowledge of marine diesel engines and auxiliary systems.
- Familiarity with offshore operational requirements.
- Understanding of planned maintenance systems.
- Experience in the Persian Gulf region is beneficial but not mandatory.
Technical Knowledge

Daily Duties
As part of the engineering team, the Third Engineer will routinely:
- Conduct engine room rounds.
- Monitor machinery operating parameters.
- Record equipment performance data.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
- Assist with machinery overhauls.
- Prepare spare parts and maintenance materials.
- Participate in machinery testing and commissioning activities.
- Support safe engine room operations during offshore missions.
- Ensure compliance with permit-to-work systems.
- Maintain engineering workshop equipment and tools.
Working Environment
The vessel is engaged in offshore supply operations supporting oil and gas platforms, drilling rigs, offshore construction projects, and production facilities throughout the Persian Gulf. The engineering department plays a critical role in maintaining vessel operational readiness and ensuring safe support of offshore clients.
