We are currently seeking an experienced Barge Engineer to join our offshore accommodation barge operating in UAE waters. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale offshore projects while contributing to safe and efficient vessel operations.

Job Summary

The Barge Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all machinery systems onboard the accommodation barge. The successful candidate will supervise engine room personnel, ensure machinery reliability, and maintain compliance with company procedures and international offshore regulations.

The role requires strong technical knowledge of diesel engines, power generation systems, pumps, compressors, hydraulic equipment, and auxiliary machinery commonly found onboard offshore accommodation barges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily engine room operations.
  • Maintain diesel generators and auxiliary engines.
  • Supervise planned maintenance activities.
  • Monitor fuel consumption and efficiency.
  • Maintain ballast systems and pumping equipment.
  • Conduct machinery inspections and condition monitoring.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical failures.
  • Coordinate repairs with offshore management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety management systems.
  • Maintain maintenance records and reports.
  • Supervise Assistant Barge Engineers and motormen.
  • Manage spare parts inventory.
  • Coordinate with shore-based technical teams.
  • Participate in emergency drills.
  • Support audits and client inspections.
  • Monitor environmental compliance.
  • Ensure machinery availability during offshore operations.
  • Review technical manuals and OEM recommendations.
  • Lead root cause investigations.
  • Promote safe working practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Class 1 Marine Engineer License preferred.
  • Marine Engineering Degree or Diploma.
  • Minimum 5 years offshore experience.
  • Previous experience on accommodation barges, construction barges, or jack-up units.
  • Valid BOSIET certification.
  • Offshore Medical Certificate.
  • HUET certification.
  • H2S Awareness certification.
