Maritime Staffing International is recruiting for a Third Engineer position aboard a Ro-Ro Cargo Vessel for operations associated with South Africa.

Job Description

Maritime Staffing International is seeking a qualified Third Engineer for employment aboard a Ro-Ro Cargo Vessel operating from or supporting projects in South Africa. The successful candidate will perform the normal duties of the Third Engineer rank while supporting safe, efficient and compliant vessel operations. Responsibilities may include watchkeeping, maintenance, cargo or deck operations, machinery support, crew coordination, safety drills, permit-to-work activities and accurate operational records according to the position. Candidates should understand international maritime safety practices, follow the vessel Safety Management System and cooperate closely with senior officers and crew. Experience on comparable vessel types will be an advantage.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Previous experience as Third Engineer, preferably on Ro-Ro Cargo Vessel; valid STCW Certificate of Competency, flag endorsements and seafarer medical; strong knowledge of shipboard safety and emergency procedures; good English communication; ability to work in a multinational crew; familiarity with ISM/SMS requirements and planned maintenance or watchkeeping duties relevant to the rank.
