Job Overview

Alpha Crew LTD is currently recruiting a qualified and experienced Second Officer DPO for a modern DP2 Platform Supply Vessel operating in the Persian Gulf. This role is ideal for marine officers with offshore Dynamic Positioning experience who are looking to advance their careers in the offshore oil and gas industry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for navigation watchkeeping, Dynamic Positioning operations, voyage planning, chart corrections, bridge equipment monitoring, and maintaining compliance with international maritime regulations. The Second Officer DPO will work closely with the Master and Chief Officer to ensure safe vessel operations while supporting offshore supply missions for oil and gas installations.

This position requires a highly motivated officer with strong navigational knowledge, excellent communication skills, and proven experience working on DP vessels in demanding offshore environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform navigational watchkeeping duties in accordance with STCW requirements.
  • Operate the vessel’s Dynamic Positioning system during offshore operations.
  • Maintain accurate DP logs and operational records.
  • Conduct pre-arrival, departure, and voyage planning activities.
  • Ensure all navigational charts and publications are updated and corrected.
  • Monitor vessel position, route, weather conditions, and navigational hazards.
  • Assist the Master during offshore approaches and field operations.
  • Participate in bridge resource management and navigational risk assessments.
  • Maintain navigational equipment including radar, ECDIS, AIS, GPS, gyrocompass, and communication systems.
  • Assist in safety drills, emergency response exercises, and vessel inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, client requirements, and international regulations.
  • Coordinate with offshore installations during cargo and supply operations.
  • Support implementation of the vessel’s Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Prepare navigational reports and documentation as required by the company and charterers.
  • Assist with onboard training and mentoring of junior officers and cadets.

Required Qualifications

  • Officer of the Watch (OOW) Unlimited Certificate of Competency.
  • Valid DP Full Certificate.
  • Completed DP Log Book.
  • Valid GMDSS General Operator Certificate.
  • Valid STCW Basic and Advanced Safety Training Certificates.
  • Valid Medical Fitness Certificate.
  • Passport and seaman’s book valid for international travel.
  • Good command of spoken and written English.

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience as Second Officer DPO on PSV DP vessels.
  • Offshore oil and gas industry experience.
  • Familiarity with IMCA guidelines and DP operational procedures.
  • Experience working in the Persian Gulf is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ECDIS, radar navigation, and bridge management systems.
  • Experience conducting offshore supply operations is preferred.
